lets take the scenic route

you can call it what you want, taking the scenic route, getting some fresh air, vitamin D time...but we all know why we are walking outside to go see this patient: this hospital is full of ekgs. now, cardiologists are nice people, super smart, i like them a lot, we are having a good time...but the hospital is a dangerous place for them and people will not hesitate to curbside your friendly neighborhood cardiologist. curbsiding is the technical term for taking advantage of a specialists kindness without giving them any credit and eating up their time while they are trying to do something else. if you were a mean person, you wouldnt get curbsided because people are scared of you. if you are nice, you are screwed. in full disclosure, ive never done an emergency dept rotation, but im pretty sure if you have a heart, you get an ekg. and all those ekgs need to be read. and why not get a professional to do it for you if they happen to be there. to avoid this, our team may literally walk around the outside of the hospital and crawl through patients windows to avoid the curbside.
im all for it. its about the only sunlight i get.
