a real memo sent from some unknown hospital, couldnt make this up if i tried:
***A FORWARDED MESSAGE FROM THE CHIEF MEDICAL RESIDENTS***
Hello all,
Recently an issue of medical student notes has come up. Here are some important clarifications-
There should be a full note by the resident (or intern supervising) - progress notes and H&P. Medical students’ notes are “essentially invisible”, so cannot be just countersigned.
If you have any questions please email/call us.
Thank you,
Your CMRs
just take out the word 'note' and that is how i feel. thanks CMRs. at least you are honest.

Hello?! Haven't the CMR's heard about the time Ernie wrote that big note on peds and days later the attending surgeon read it and realized the obscure diagnosis that only a medical student would consider was the *actual* diagnosis and so the kid's life was saved?
ReplyDeleteOr have they been reading my notes that say stuff like, "awaiting advice from attending..."
