the wards
medicine loves mnemonics, people worship them. all we need to know it medicine can be boiled down to a single word which is totally random and you cant remember what each letter stands for so you start making things up. like who actually remembers what SIGECAPS stands for? or what it applies to? something psych i think, but who knows. well, im pretty sure my religion (judaism) doesnt believe in mnemonics. they are evil. so our attending started pimping us on his very own mnemonics that we were supposed to know. like the way he comes up with a differential diagnosis is "K-I-T-T-E-N-S" after he vetoed my approach of a systems based plus knowing that vasculitis, cancer, and thyroids do everything imaginable. so he started off explaining that, obviously "K" is for "congenital". that is when i started laughing. and then i checked that he wasnt grading me. i dont think he saw the humor in his patient approach like i did.
