origins

it has been pointed out to me that i have never explained the title of the blog. more specifically, it was pointed out to me by my friend bill z who didnt know my blog even existed but would like to take credit for it. eat it up bill, this is your moment of glory. as you may have guessed, since its me and im a huge dork, 'failure to thrive' or 'FTT' is a medical pediatric term describing inadequate growth or development. bill was writing an article about it for some 'elective' (for lack of a better word, since all us umass people know that its a get out of jail free card for a month), and maybe for a moment in my life i was actually paying attention and said that should be the title of my memoir. and voila...blog. my favorite part was that the next day i ran into his elective coordinator/my self-appointed physician cheerleader (unknowing faculty member that happened to be near me in an emotional crisis and has to listen to all my bs). i told him about my novel 'failure to thrive' and he was like, 'no, rachel, you are a success! you thrived! you THRIVED!' he was genuinely concerned about my self esteem while my friend and i were on the floor laughing.
i still want to write the memoir. or at least get the million dollars cash advance that i feel like i deserve. they do that, right? and then someone will buy the movie rights. and then so long anesthesia, im retiring early to florida.
