where my czechs at?

last night our group was invited to the israeli ambassadors house to the czech republic in prague.  needless to say, the house was gorgeous.  ill take one of those someday.  or two.  i keep using the word 'privilege' but it just works so well here.  what a privilege and honor to be there.  not an offer that i get often (or ever).  the ambassador spoke very diplomatically and eloquently about israels current and historical position in the czech republic, much of which im only now starting to learn about.  its a rich history that i will try to tell you all about later once i further educate myself (i wouldnt want to be lying to you or telling you the wrong info since im sure this will be your source of all historical knowledge esp dealing with the world wars, communism, fascism, nazis, antisematism etc).  he also spoke about the conflict in gaza, another topic which i will discuss at a later time.  and while i gather information to try and get a better understanding of what on earth is going on here and there and everywhere, the topic  of the evening was 'young' czech jews (in the same way that im 'young').  im the baby of the group traveling, with although we are all young at heart.  and i definitely take more naps than anyone else.  but anyhoo, im representing the young people on this trip.  represent!  so the ambassador invited several people my age and we chatted a bit about life, religion, facebook (facebook me, new czech buddies!  where you at?).  i really feel like we have a lot to learn from each other and i was very impressed by their passion, desire for building a community esp for the young (as the majority of the jewish population there is >70 ie sadly dying out).  and how they are trying to revive a community which has lost so much of its structure and identity after the holocaust and has struggled to rebuild. answer to the question: parties and food!  bring on purim.  and this is also why my new goal is to be an international party girl.  im going to prague purim 2009.  party!  and bringing jews together from around the world : )  its a win win.  and im dedicated to the cause.
