us good tourists like to get an early start. places to go, people to see. lauren came up from jerusalem, i got my bum out of bed to go south and we met up in binyamina. of course, the place we met was a winery. a word that we had no idea how to say or to ask for directions to, except by asking everyone "ayfo yayin" (where is wine?) or looking for the international sign for classy drinkers: the grape bunch. at 9am we were ready to go. wine and hard liquor. but its jewish approved, so mom and dad would still be proud. right?
so yada yada yada, lauren made me walk up and down a hill because she thought she saw a sign to a mall (where this mall is, we have no idea). i had flashbacks to the time when in college, lauren also convinced me that we didnt need flour in an apple crisp and i believed her because i had never made apple crisp topping. and now same with hebrew signs. but we all know how the apple crisp turned out-apple sugar soup and roommate mia banning me from the kitchen. and i end up sweating up and down a hill. either time, not a fine point in my life.
ok, i found this hilarious, but you might not. it makes me smile on the outside when i think about it in my head. so in israel on the bottom of the bill when you use a credit card, there is no place for tips. there are 2 lines. now one of them is for signing, one of them is for telephone number. i had to look at it for a while to realize this, but its kind of obvious because it says (in hebrew letters, but sounds same) 'telephone'. i told lauren this and she made me feel better. she had no idea where to sign at all, so she would just sign in the middle of the lines or in huge letter all over the bottom, to cover it all. she did this for weeks. i love you lauren, but sometimes you make me feel smart : ) good luck on your GREs!!!
Ok, I officially can't read this at work anymore, because I'm laughing like crazy and, no, oil markets are never this hilarious, even for people who like them. Cracks me UP. *glug*=(me and date with bottle of wine tonight, in honor of you)
